Behavior of gas emboli subjected to pressure variation in biological systems.

چکیده
AbatraetDynamic behavior of gas emboti in a quiescent liquid having the rheological properties of human or animal blood subject to pressure variations is studied. Consideration is given to step and sinusoidal changes in the system pressure. It is disclosed that in the study of dynamic behavior of gas emboli, a Newtonian model may be used to approximate the rheological behavior of human or animal blood in which the emboli are situated. The instantaneous embolus size in blood under pulsating pressure change may be determined by the equilibrium condition of instantaneous static pressures.

Spreading of Plastic Zones in Functionally Graded Spherical Tanks Subjected to Internal Pressure and Temperature Gradient Combinations
Thermo-Elasto-Plastic analyses of thick-walled spherical tanks made of functionally graded materials are investigated analytically. These tanks are subjected to positive or negative temperature gradient and internal pressure loadings separately or simultaneously. The power law modeling has been used for through-the-thickness variation of mechanical properties. von Mises yield criterion and Elas...
متن کاملDesign and Analysis of Pressure Vessel Subjected to Pressure-temperature Variation (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Pressure vessel is a container used to store fluids under pressure and temperature. The fluids can be air, water, chemicals, fuel, gases etc. are most commonly used in food and chemical industries, oil refineries and so on. Pressure vessel is subjected to thermal and structural loads for power plant applications. Since the pressure vessel are subjected to both structural and thermal loads stres...
متن کاملModeling of Pressure Dependence of Interfacial Tension Behaviors of Supercritical CO2 + Crude Oil Systems Using a Basic Parachor Expression
Parachor based expressions (basic and mechanistic) are often used to model the experimentally observed pressure dependence of interfacial tension (IFT) behaviors of complex supercritical carbon dioxide (sc-CO2) and crude oil mixtures at elevated temperatures. However, such modeling requires various input data (e.g. compositions and densities of the equilibrium liquid and vapor phases, and molec...

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of gas-solid flow through a positive low-pressure pneumatic conveyor were performed using Eulerian-Eulerian framework. Pressure drop in pneumatic conveying pipelines, creation and destruction of plugs along the horizontal and vertical pipes, effect of 90° elbows and U-bends on cross-section concentrations, and rope formation and dispersion were...
متن کاملTackling uncertainty in safety risk analysis in process systems: The case of gas pressure reduction stations
Industrial plants are subjected to very dangerous events. Therefore, it is very essential to carry out an efficient risk and safety analysis. In classical applications, risk analysis treats event probabilities as certain data, while there is much penurious knowledge and uncertainty in generic failure data that will lead to biased and inconsistent alternative estimates. Then, in order to achieve...
